Note: Lucrecia's pension certificate (which Kevin McIntosh copied at the Kreiss family reunion in Brooklyn, IA in June, 2016) spells their young daughter's name as Georgie A. Kriss. The pension for her terminated when she turned 16, which according to the pension certificate, was 14 Jan 1908. Her application for a delayed birth certificate shows a birth date of 15 Jan 1892. That's consistent. Your family history shows it as 16 Jan 1892. For some reason, my information was that she was born on 16 Feb 1892. |

Medical: Got breast cancer at age 68 and then died about ten years later of it. Had complete radical masecotmy According to Orlene, "Grandma Sugar"'s mother was named Lucrecia Acrea. She had an adopted brother, Tom. When Tom was 80 years old, he drove from California to Nortonville to visit his sister. Ernest (Ernie) was a cousin, but no one is certain exactly the relationship. She also had an older sister, named Lucille. Lucille, who was an early member of the Women's Army Corps (i.e. in WW I) married Tom Follis somewhere in California (Santa Barbara). They have two children, Kathryn and Tom. Tom retired in 1992 from teaching in California. She also had a brother named Harvey Kreiss. Nobody knows much about him, except that he was married and has a son named Harvey; the elder Harvey died early on of appendicitis. Harvey (Jr.) lived in Kansas City, who worked for the post office; his wife Gladys, (who was half-Indian) taught school. They had no children, although several died at childbirth. Her Social Security number was 496-24-9505 |
