1 cup milk Scalded
1 teaspoon salt
2 each yeast
1 each egg
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup water Warmed
7 cups flour
Instructions
Scald milk, stir in surar, salt and butter. Cool. Dissolve yeast in water, stir in egg. Add to the flour mixture, baking powder, soda and half the flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Beat hard or knead for several minutes
Cover and let rise in a warm place free from drafts until doubled in bulk. This takes about one hour. Punch down and shape into rolls. Cover and let rise about 30 minutes, bake 15 minutes in a 400* oven.
