1 1/2 cups boiling water
2 medium eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup oatmeal
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Topping
1 Stick Butter
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Cream
1 Cup Nuts
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
Instructions
Pour water over oatmeal and set aside. Mix the other ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour in the water & oatmeal into the other ingredients, mix well. Bake in a 350 degree oven in an 8" x 12" pan for 30 minutes.
For the topping, melt the butter and dd other ingredients. Spread on cake as soon as you take it from the oven.
